Thema: footpegs |
Apologies for writing in English.
Is it true that Yamaha R6 footpegs will fit on to my Skorpion sports?
trying to establish allternative aftermarket parts :-)
Thank you

I would think Slipstream would be the first to ask about this,
http://www.teamslipstream.co.uk/forum/
but it is easy enuf to find out. Just measure the bolt pattern with a caliper or dividers on an R6.
the holes are 69,5mm apart ± 70mm. Why that particular measurement and not something e.g. Yamaha compatible is anybody's guess. They could just as easily have used the pegs and brackets from the TZR which are much better than MZ's blacksmith DIYs anyway.
As far as I know, there is/was only one commercially available rearset for the Skorpion and these were made by:
http://tcmproducts.com/Home_Page.html
BUT they were marketed exclusively by Bikeworx and that is basically a deadend road. TCM would not sell any to me, referring me to Bikeworx, and Bikeworx would not either or could not or didn't want to be bothered. I don't know. Maybe Chris H. knows, since he is in contact with Bikeworx, but even he has a set of rearsets from me.
I'll keep looking. I kinda have a hunch that I might find something with ABM or Gillestooling. Both are of course high end and expensive. Something like this:

I can't speak for Bikeworx, but I suspect that their willingness to sell a pair of their fine rear sets depends on whether or not they have a pair made up, on the shelf, and ready to go. They are beautiful and functional.
I've been very happy with the rearsest I got from Bill. Spare parts are hard to come by! ;-) Bill, why don't you guys ramp up production and make a few more!
If all you are trying to do is replace footpegs, and not all the bracketry, there are options. I've used a these replacement footpegs already:

They were inexpensive and shorter than stock and without the rubber.
Also, Mark at Corse Meccanica has had these on his site forever:

Pretty!
There have got to be others, if its footpegs you're after.
